Today I arrived in Melbourne’s bustling CBD for my 3rd day of work in my new ‘kind of/casual’ job! I stepped off the train, onto the platform with the fresh vibe of city workers hustling around me getting ready to start their day.
Brief cases, coffee cups, headphones and importance was flying through the air.
I was ready! I had my lunch box packed into my favourite ‘Floral Harold’s Carry Bag’ given to me by one of my besties after her travels to the UK.
Before I knew it, I was making my first fast paced city choice for the day- “Stairs or elevator Luca” I asked myself internally.
That’s a no brainer for me. After choosing consciously to walk 900km through Spain, any option to take a few more steps make’s me recall the feeling of walking on the Camino (minus the serenity). Plus- sitting on my butt in an office all day means, if I am going to make my 10,000 steps for today, I better get moving. The stairs it is!
For some reason today… as I was climbing the stairs- I thought… ‘This my friend is a new blog piece’!
So here I am, after a big important day of work in the city, then riding the train home through Frankston to beautiful Beachy Mornington. Drinks with a newer great mate and now… almost time for bed!!
But not until I give life to this blog piece.
Are you a stairs kinda person? Does it inspire you to walk a little more, stretch your body and give it a mini challenge at any opportunity possible? To feel your heart rate go up and know that you have chosen the alternative route in this moment?
Or do you like the elevator? The flowing, gentle, calming, watch the world pass by and be present option? Where etiquette is required ‘stand to the left’, while you catch your breathe… even if it is for just a brief moment?!
Neither right or wrong, good or bad. Just 2 SIMPLE options, that are same same but slightly different.
You know what’s different about each? The importance and intention you place behind them- if any?!
So here’s a mini intentional challenge for you this week if you fancy playing…
When presented with 2 routes, the main route or the alternative route… decide which type of movement would serve you best?
The stairs- are you up for a challenge? Do you want to push yourself that little bit more today, this week this month and show the world and yourself who you are- by taking the stairs?
Or…
The elevator? Are you in need of some chill time, to rest your mind and body and go with the flow a bit? Practice pausing and being present before starting your day.
We have these choices in front of us all the time- it’s how we look at them that gives them their value or lack.
May you choo choo choose the option that is most supportive for you this week! And remember- you always have that choice at every corner.
