Disclaimer… this blog piece title is deceiving. There will be more than one line shared in this weird and wonderful collection of my musings. And, 1 tree was hugged, 1 frozen yoghurt purchased and a delicious sunset witnessed in the making of this piece.
Ok, let’s go.
This one time, while I was walking in Spain, I discovered an artist who grabbed my whole attention with this one line. It was this gentle moment in the chorus of his song ‘simple things’, 2:10min in and he sings ….’so shake the cold from your toes and let the east coast walk you home’.
Although his words didn’t quite resonate, the smile I could hear in his voice as he sang that line, got me! That one liner resonated so much for him, that I could feel it. And that’s when I discovered and simultaneously fell in love with Ziggy Alberts.
Music has this magical way of walking beside us on a journey as we exercise, drive, clean our homes, cook chicken soup, paint, read, work etc. It transports us to a part of our brain that is absorbing its message, vibration, making you feel something.
Whether it’s music, a movie or a conversation, all it can take is ‘one line’ to make you connect with all the words before and afterwards.
But what are these one liners saying?
What is it about this one line that has caught your attention?
And maybe, just maybe, it has a mini message for you.
When I was a youthful counsellor early in my career, I recall a client returning for his weekly session. We started the session and he saids to me;
‘Laura, what you said last week changed something in me’.
This one liner he repeated back to me had turned his perspective inside out, in an empowering way. Phew!
Did I recall saying this one line? Nope..
Did he? Yup!
Is that all that matters? 111%.
We are being communicated with all day everyday. From social media, to music, to conversations, marinating in one liners that can turn our thinking from surviving to thriving, in a moment.
So here’s the invitation folks, to listen up.
Stay open to these one liners that hold gold within them. They have a message for US that will resonate from the inside out. You don’t need to go looking for them, they’re everywhere, waiting for you to be present enough to hear them. And you’ll know when you do, cause it will grab your whole attention in that moment. Kinda like finding something you’ve been looking for but didn’t realise was missing.
I believe life’s a big beautiful feedback loop, trying to get our attention and guide us along the way, if we listen up.
