Warmth

The heaters on, it’s been on for a while now. I’ve got 3 layers and a puffer jacket on, 2 pairs of socks, tights and my fingerless gloves.

The second word that comes to mind after warm is, dramatic! I know, I know but I dislike the cold.

The weather has turned on us like the sun does as it fades away each evening, calling it a day.

Summer and autumn are officially over and I guess there’s an adjustment period till we climatise. In the interim, dramatic layering is acceptable.

Warmth is something we seek at this time of year in Australia, winter time! A feeling we crave as the elements do their thing and transform the colour, temperature and renewal cycle of our environment.

Warmth is something I seek in the winter months that’s for sure, but it’s not only then. I often seek the feeling of warmth in everyday life and in the simplest of ways.

It could be the warmth of a chat and laugh with a stranger as you wait for your coffee and their dog is staring at you hoping you have treats.

The warmth of a person you talk to and just feel instantly comfortable and relaxed with.

Warmth of someone listening to you, hearing you out without judgement or pushing their agenda onto you.

Warmth of a walk with a friend in the brisk morning, as you laugh about the beautiful shit show that life can be.

Warmth of a good movie and cuppa on the couch with the fairy lights on.

Warmth of good people who keep their hearts open even though it’s vulnerable and scary at times.

Warmth….It’s such a beautiful word and quality don’t you think?

And it’s not just something I seek, it’s something I live by. I try to show up with a warm vibe as often as possible, even if I am freezing my butt off.

Why? Cause it feels good to share warmth and to receive it.

There are so many ways to warm up as we approach these chilly months ahead of us in Aus and other parts of the world.

Try not to freeze up too much in sharing your warmth with another, it might just be the extra layer you both need to stay warm this winter and beyond.

Wishing you a warm weekend folks, from the inside out!
