What dating and avocados have in common?

I think the avocado stand at any supermarket is their most admired display! An area in the fruit and veggie department that probably gets the most attention, squeezes, arrangement, rearrangement and TLC!

Do you agree?! 🤔🥑

Avocado are not only one of the top 3 options for any bruncher, these delicious oval shaped fruits also assist with:

⁃ Hormone balance

⁃ Reduce cardiovascular disease

⁃ Aid in digestion and weight management

⁃ And… assists with bad breathe?! Who would have thought!

So here’s my theory about the hearty avocado and dating..?!

As I’m standing at the exceptionally well presented avocado section at coles, I became that annoying customer touching every avo trying to find the perfect one.

Some looked amazing but were rock hard, others looked unattractive I didn’t even give them a squeeze, too ripe, too big, too small, too ... you get where I’m going right?!

I wanted the perfect looking, feeling, ready to go NOW avocado that I could open up and enjoy with some sourdough, sprinkle some dukkah on and drizzle some of that yummy balsamic glaze! The non sugary one of course! 🙄

Trust me, I’m not even trying to do food porn right now, I’m really just talking about avocados!

I chuckled to myself quietly and thought… ‘this reminds me of bloody online dating’! So many choices, everyone looking for the perfect one… NOW …and often how one looks on the outside; is what gets the initial swipe right or left!

There he is’ I thought… ‘the perfect avocado’.

It was ripe, but not too soft. Green but with a slight tan, ready to enjoy and take home NOW. And because there was a special; 2 avos for $3.50, I friviosly chose another one to enjoy at a later date!

As I introduced Mr Perfect Avocado to my mum that evening, alongside a delicious meal I had prepared for us, we were both shocked to see this perfect looking avocado (on the outside) was full of bruises and brown damaged parts on the inside! 😧

I laughed out loud telling my mum my theory of dating and avocados!

So what’s my take away from this unintentional food porn experience?

In this instantaneous culture/society we live in, its so easy to want Mr, MIss perfect to be ripe n ready right NOW. To look great on the outside and even better within.

Reality slap... Time, patience, surrounding ourselves with a healthy environment to grow, and cultivating a healthy inner and outer landscape is a life long goal. Not instant, but a daily work in progress!

Sometimes waiting for that rock hard avocado to ripen in its own natural time is so much more blissful and ‘organic’!

It’s ok to grow slow, you know!

Oh yeah, Mr avocado #2, the after thought… was perfect from the inside out 3 days later!

Food for thought hey… literally!

Simply blissful!
