It took me about 2 months to find my new Shiny Sandals this summer!
I searched high and low, inside and out of multi storied shopping centres for the perfect pair!
I recall many years back, one Sunny Sunday at a beer garden with my girlfriends and a lady walked past us wearing gorgeous tanned sandals and they stopped me mid conversation. I walked straight up to her and told her how fab her shoes looked and then she guided me on where I can buy them.
I wore those sandals till they became a walking and tripping hazard! 🙏👣
But this year… I bought more for comfort. I’m not going to go into the structural challenges of my right foot- but let’s just say, fashion is painful- so screw fashion!
It was my 6th attempt of shoe shopping after work. However, there was something different about this 6th and final attempt.
I was determined to buy a pair!
The Christmas money sitting in my top drawer was about to be exploited on food, coffee and an espresso martini if I wasn’t careful.
I walked into trusty old Myer- determined to buy my new sandals. I walked straight to the display and asked for my size in ‘those Shiny Silver Sandals’ please :-). The girl came straight back with them. They fit like a glove! 👌 I placed my old sandals into the new shoe box and after paying for my shiny shoes I put them on. I kindly asked the sale assistant to throw the old pair in the bin.
I was done!!! Not a moment longer was I attached to the old- I was ready for the new!
My point is- sometimes you’re just not ready. You need time to research, cultivate courage, figure out what you want and maybe bake a little longer…
BUT…. when you are ready, for your new shoes, your new job, your new relationship, your new attitude or even a new apartment for one– then it will be as instant as my purchase of shiny shoes was! No thinking- you’ll just do it!
The hilarious ironic thing is- I spent 2 months searching for new sandals only to end up buying the very first pair I tried on all those months ago, but for half the price and with certainty 👌🙌
Simple! And slightly weird but cute, no?!
