Think about your favourite song? A song you love to listen to and which gives you such immediate happiness/relief/freedom inside. Got it? GOOD!
Now imagine that awesome song which you love listening to, become an acoustic version!
It gets slower, the words, chorus and rhythm of the song becomes more pronounced and clear! It’s that same awesome song you love, but it makes you feel different when played acoustically!
Welcome to what I’m calling – Phase #2 of the Camino!
Phase #1 = FUN! I can’t find a better word to capture the flavour of my first week of walking the way! But I won’t go there again cause I think you got the message in my previous posts
I am now heading into week 3 of walking this incredible pilgrimage and the tune has changed! It’s just as good, if not better, simpler, slower, more pronounced- like an acoustic version of my fav song!
We are up to nearly 300km and for me that has looked like 12 days walking with 2 rest days merged in there. The fatigue has kicked in, the Spanish heat turned up, the body telling me what it needs daily, longer stretches of flat ground.
I have lost touch with some poignant people whom I met In my first week- which means many new faces! I have slept in 13 different beds with chronic snorers and peaceful sleepers! The external fun has now turned into an internal desire for more peace and a bit more quiet/chill!! Like cooking a meal, having a siesta and the odd game of truth or dare after dinner ha!
Phase #2 feels like it’s more about the walking! Enjoying some solitude in nature, under the sun and maybe even answering some of those bigger life questions I haven’t had time or space to ask before?! Why not?! They say if you ask good questions you get good answers!
I can’t describe the feeling of gratitude I have for this time and freedom in my life to do what I’m doing. Its not luck, because I’ve intentionally created this. But I’m grateful all the same! Yes some moments are fucking hard and emotional and I’m learning to lovethat part of the acoustic version also!
The funny thing is, the Camino reminds me a lot of life! Just with a few more cathedrals and people in my bedroom!
Simply BLISSful
