Tails from the Trail

Heads or Tails?

Ok, let me start by setting this scene!!

I’m currently lying down on some daisy filled grass, in a tiny off road bit of land called San Bol- about 300m off the Camino path! There are about 35 big tree trunks surrounding the land, with fellow pilgrims like myself resting against them.

If I look forward, I see rolling hills and blue skies, if I look back I see rolling hills, blue skies and the track. If I look up from my patch of grass as I lye in my sleeping bag at 5pm in the arvo- I see sunshine, tree leaves and blue skies!

How the hell did I stumble across this oasis in the middle of Spain you may be wondering?

Well yesterday I was doing my washing in a laundry mat. I was researching the day ahead of walking- ‘Manyana’!!

I read about San Bol-a 12 bed Albergue which was titled ‘a hippy oasis with a fresh water springs’!

SOLD!

I called without thinking and reserved a bed! ‘Just one’ she asked, ‘una gracies’ I replied!!

I didn’t really know if I was going to show up if I’m honest! I loved the sound of it but all those deep seeded woggy/western world glorified busyness fears within me piped up.

‘What if it’s unsafe, how boring-there’s nothing to do except relax, I shouldn’t go alone, this is a stupid UNSAFE idea Luca’!

So as I started to believe those thoughts on my early morning walk, I met Petra! She’s awesome is what I want to say first! And second, she starts talking about this gorgeous hippie oasis on the way which she stayed at last time she walked the Camino. It was one of her highlights.!

‘Ummmm are you talking about this one”, I showed her on my wise pilgrim app?!

‘ Yep!! said Petra!

So there we are, at the corner of my off road oasis and 5km away from another fun town where Petra was staying with others! Ohhhh, I felt a bit torn with what to do…..? The FOMO in me was freaking out.

So… I flipped a 50cent Euro and trusted that whatever side came up- would be the right one!

Tails- Oasis it is!

What a fun way to go with the flow hey!

My heart wanted the oasis and those meaningful questions I’ve put out there- are more likely to be answered in the whispers of big old quiet sturdy trees- then another wine bar!

Trusting the BLISSful flow- one step at a time hey!

Try it… I dare you!
